Uganda Independence Celebrations 2017-Ottawa

On 8th October, at Canterbury Avenue, the Ugandan community in Ottawa-Canada together with the invited guests from various walks of life gathered to celebrate the Uganda's 55th Independence Anniversary.

The High Commissioner Ambassador Joy Ruth Acheng in her remarks thanked the Ugandans in diaspora for their role in contributing towards the development of their motherland, Uganda. She further urged the diaspora not to drop the customs and cultures of Uganda and urged them to continue working hard & being productive to better their own lives, assist many back home and also contribute to the building the economy of Uganda

Ambassador Acheng thanked the High Commission officials and Executive committee of the Uganda Association of Ottawa for organizing a colorful ceremony and urged all Ugandans to always actively participate in activities organized by the High commission and those by the Association

She also called on the Ugandan community to work together with the Mission to promote Uganda. She challenged the Ugandans to encourage their Canadian neigh ours, workmates, schoolmates to visit Uganda as tourists and also to link the Organizations they work with in Canada to the respective organization in Uganda.
